One-Time-Only Sessions: Performance Enhancement

These are stories of real-life dilemmas that were completely resolved in only one meeting.

Public Speaking with Comfort
Mary was a successful businesswoman who often made presentations to local and even national groups. She worked hard to make her lectures interesting and motivating, and her presentations were well received. When asked to present to an extremely prestigious group, however, Mary’s anxiety really set in. She felt unworthy, inadequate, and worried about failure. In one ninety-minute session we were able to dissolve old stress, eliminate fears, and empower her to do her preparation and speech delivery with ease.

Athletic Victory
Sally, a 15-year-old athlete, had hit a plateau in two of her high school sports. We worked together for a ninety-minute session. A week later, Sally had a track meet in which she not only accomplished her goals, but she also broke two school records that day.

Academic Achievement
Troy was a 14 year old high school freshman who couldn’t do his homework. Parents had tried everything—bribing, punishing, working with teachers, having Troy evaluated by Doctors. In one ninety-minute session Troy and I were able to get rid of negative ideas about reading and limiting beliefs about himself. He had come into the office that day with slumped posture, head low, definitely feeling something was very wrong with him. When he was departing, he was standing tall, head up, big smile on his face, knowing that he was okay and that he’d be able to do his homework from now on. And he did.

"Now Let’s Have Some Fun"
Betty, a congenial and personable lady, couldn’t stand her daughter-in-law Stacy. Whenever she was with Stacy, Betty’s teeth would clench and she would get a headache, along with some pretty condemning thoughts. In one sixty-minute session Betty was able to get rid of all the stress. She experienced a sense of forgiveness toward several other people, toward her daughter-in-law, and toward herself. Betty felt emotionally healthy. She was happy at the idea of now being able to love her daughter-in-law and to enjoy their time together.

"Not Me -- I Can’t Do It!"
It looked as if Jason was heading for thirty days in jail. He couldn’t cope with the idea of confinement. He would break into a sweat just thinking about it. He couldn’t concentrate. He couldn’t sit down. He would pace and pace. In one sixty-minute session, Jason was sitting calmly on the couch, feeling okay. Also, for the first time since being arrested, he was able to acknowledge responsibility for his criminal behavior. At the end of the session, he was willing and able to accept a jail sentence.
